Hinjewadi cab sharing: office commute fares, split 2 to 4 ways

Hinjewadi's IT parks are on Pune's western edge, so a commute from Kharadi or Magarpatta is 28 to 29 km each way, about ₹700 by cab at the RTA's approved rate. Twice a day, 22 days a month, that's over ₹30,000 alone and under ₹8,000 each when four share. Here's the fare from each area, split 2 to 4 ways, and how to make a shared commute work.

Checked on 31 October 2026. Fares use the rates Pune's Regional Transport Authority (RTA) approved, worked out from road distances rounded to the nearest km. Apps can charge less when demand is low and up to 1.5 times more at peak, and their route can be a little longer than the shortest road. The price the app shows when you book is the one that counts.

Phase 2 and Phase 3 are further in: from the east, Phase 3 is about 7 to 8 km past Phase 1, roughly ₹175 to ₹200 more per cab. From Wakad it's a short hop, usually cheaper by auto.

How the fare is worked out

Since 1 May 2025, app cabs (Ola, Uber, Rapido) in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Baramati are meant to charge the RTA's approved rate: ₹37 for the first 1.5 km and ₹25 for each km after that. The RTO has since sent Uber a notice for not following it, so compare what your app shows.

Autos got new fares on 1 September 2026: ₹30 for the first 1.5 km and ₹20 a km after that. An auto takes up to three people and costs about a fifth less than a cab over the same distance.

Quick estimate. Cab: ₹37 + (km − 1.5) × ₹25. Auto: ₹30 + (km − 1.5) × ₹20.

A 20 km cab ride: ₹37 + 18.5 × ₹25 = about ₹500, or ₹125 each when four share.

What sharing saves in a month

Twice a day, 22 working days a month, is 44 rides. From Kharadi:

Kharadi ↔ Hinjewadi Phase 1, 44 rides a month at ₹725
Sharing with Each way A month You save a month
Nobody ₹725 ₹31,900 –
1 other person ₹363 ₹15,950 ₹15,950
2 others ₹242 ₹10,633 ₹21,267
3 others ₹181 ₹7,975 ₹23,925

From Kothrud (₹425 each way), four sharing pay about ₹4,675 a month each instead of ₹18,700. There's more on this in how much sharing your office cab saves.

Making a shared commute work

  • Fix a time. Commutes share best when everyone leaves within the same quarter of an hour. Mornings are easier to match than evenings, when finishing times vary.
  • It doesn't have to be the same people both ways. Share the morning ride, then search again when you finish.
  • Meet on the main road your cab would take anyway, not at each person's gate.
  • Inside Hinjewadi, Phase 1, 2 and 3 are spread out. Drop at one gate, or split by distance when someone rides on to Phase 3; how to split a cab fare fairly shows how.
  • Book once everyone is there, take turns booking, and settle by UPI the same day.
  • If your company runs buses or cabs, use them. Sharing fills the gaps: shifts that don't match, areas the route doesn't cover, late finishes.

Stay safe

Meet at a busy public spot, share the trip's live location with someone, and check the cab's number before you get in. Our guide to sharing a cab with strangers safely has the full checklist.

How Sobat helps

Plan tomorrow's ride tonight: search from your area to Hinjewadi, join a ride leaving around your time, or start one; everyone searching that route sees it. You can plan up to three rides ahead. If nothing leaves at your time, Sobat shows rides a little earlier or later, and you choose how far you'll walk to the meeting point, from 5 to 20 minutes. One of you books a normal Ola, Uber or auto, and the ride room shows each person's share in rupees. Women can choose women-only rides. Sobat is free and never handles the money.
