Checked on 28 October 2026. Prices are what Uber's Pune to Goa page listed that day. Local operators quote their own, busy weeks can cost more, and the price you're quoted when you book is the one that counts.
The drive
Uber puts the trip at about 433 km and 11 hours. Most of it is the Pune–Bengaluru highway (NH48) through Satara and Karad to Kolhapur. After Kolhapur, cabs take one of the ghat roads down to Goa: through Belagavi in Karnataka and the Chorla or Anmod ghat, or through the Amboli ghat and Sawantwadi, staying in Maharashtra.
Leave by 6 am if you can. You'll reach the ghats in daylight, and they're slow, and slippery in the monsoon.
What it costs
Uber's Pune to Goa page listed an intercity sedan at about ₹5,200, Go Intercity at about ₹5,300 and an XL (SUV) at about ₹9,500, with ₹10,079 as the route's average one-way price. So expect quotes between roughly ₹5,000 and ₹10,000, depending on the car and the week.
| People sharing | Sedan, about ₹5,200 | SUV, about ₹9,500 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (alone) | ₹5,200 | ₹9,500 |
| 2 | ₹2,600 | ₹4,750 |
| 3 | ₹1,733 | ₹3,167 |
| 4 | ₹1,300 | ₹2,375 |
Four people with suitcases won't fit in a sedan's boot. Book an SUV and the split still comes to about ₹2,400 each.
Check what the quote includes
- Tolls. There are several toll plazas on NH48 between Pune and Kolhapur.
- State taxes. The route through Belagavi crosses into Karnataka, and some operators add a state entry tax.
- Driver allowance and night charges, for early starts or late arrivals.
- One way or round trip. Ask for a one-way price specifically; some quotes assume a round trip. If you want the car for trips around Goa, book a round trip where the driver stays with you. A one-way cab just drops you.
Pickups and drops along the way
- In Pune, pick a stop on the way out. The highway bypass runs from Wakad past Baner and Warje to Navale Bridge and Katraj, so riders from either side of the city can be picked up on it.
- On the way, riders from Satara, Karad or Kolhapur can join, and someone going home to Kolhapur can share the first half.
- In Goa, the north (Mapusa, Calangute, Anjuna) and the south (Margao, Colva, Palolem) are far apart. Agree on drops before you book, or get off together at one point, such as Panaji or Mapusa, and take local taxis from there.
When people ride different distances, split by distance:
Example. Say the cab to Panaji costs ₹6,540 in all. Riya and Kabir ride the whole way, about 430 km each. Sana gets off at Kolhapur, 230 km along. Together: 430 + 430 + 230 = 1,090 km.
- Riya: 430 of 1,090 km → ₹2,580
- Kabir: 430 of 1,090 km → ₹2,580
- Sana: 230 of 1,090 km → ₹1,380
Alone, Riya would have paid ₹6,540.

Getting around once you're there
App cabs work differently in Goa. Ola and Uber have been kept out by local taxi operators, and the state's 2025 aggregator guidelines let app taxis use only Goa-registered taxis with Goa-licensed drivers. Plan on local taxis, the state-backed GoaMiles app or a rented scooter, and check what's running before you go.
When to go
- Christmas to New Year and long weekends are the busiest. Find or start your ride early, since cabs fill up.
- The monsoon (June to September) is green and quiet, but the ghats are slow. Leave extra time.
How Sobat helps
Search Pune to Goa and choose Outstation. Sobat follows the road, so you'll see rides whose route passes near you even if they start across town, with when the cab reaches you and how many kilometres you'd share. Join one, or start your own: everyone searching that route sees it. For a planned ride you can approve who joins. The ride room splits the fare by distance, and anyone can adjust their own share. You book the cab yourselves and settle by UPI; Sobat never handles the money.
